Kostya Was One Of The Lucky Ones

A Story of Hope

Kostya Was One Of The Lucky Ones image

Kostya was surrendered to the Lyndhurst shelter, likely due to the severe skin infection that she was suffering from. It’s heartbreaking to think that her previous owners may have abandoned her because they couldn’t afford the care she desperately needed, or, most likely, they simply decided they didn’t want her anymore. Kostya was covered in a painful dermatitis, with raw, red patches that clearly indicated her suffering. To make matters worse, her veterinary exam revealed that she also had a bladder infection. Given the shelter's tight budget, the prospect of medical euthanasia loomed over her. Despite the pain she endured, both physically and emotionally, the shelter staff were truly moved by Kostya’s loving nature and warm affection for everyone she met. Recognizing her spirit, the dog manager reached out to Friends Of, hoping we could help cover the costs of her medical care and give Kostya a second chance.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to provide the funds needed, and Kostya received prompt treatment from Dr. Reeder at the Animal Hospital of Waynesboro. We’re overjoyed to report that she has made a full recovery and can now look forward to a brighter future!

Kostya's before and after pictures are a testament to the work we can do together.

Friends of SAWAS provides over $3000 PER MONTH in medical care. Our donations drop significantly during the summer but the animal shelter needs don't. Can you help us replenish our medical fund so that the next shelter animal is as lucky as Kostya?
